One Link Friday?

Seriously, I know it's been a forever while! Truth is, we have all been battling illness since we got over Our **** Summer.
Yes!
Still!
What happened to my Onward and Upward?
I am afraid, I am still asking myself…??

***Even better still, THIS is LAST Friday’s Post lol! ***

Our little family has been facing thee ultimate worst bout of sicknesses over the last two months, that we as an entire family unit have never experienced before; and of which no one can explain….I have just come out of the hospital again, this time only for some oxygen with my new found partner: Pneumonia. I fear however, that Wednesday nights visit is somehow not my last during this … affair. The children are also still sick. LO handling it best, and TEEN handling LO best (for the minimal help she can offer herself).

Anyway, so there’s the reason you guys haven’t heard from us. I am sooo sick. With 2 children completely alone, rest and getting well is very hard to come by. Lately, I have had to my best begging for a rest relief period for (at least) an hour and mainly only, from my one parent/friend/family (only person I know, closely enough) here in the neighbourhood, besides my fantastic neighbors down the way. Don’t like asking them for help a lot because let’s face it, I basically have to live with them lol. Plus, they already hugely stepped up too when had my meningitis!

My mom is also a single handed home owner and full time employed healthy superhero. She has to sail her own boat too. Thankfully, she can usually grab the generally needed stuff when sick like this, an ambulance, 2 kids, coffee, & some hospital masks stuffed in her purse. She’s not handling it well and is seemingly on the verge of seriously cutting me and my children out of her life completely. I mean it! And I don’t blame her one bit! (for this anyway)! I am beyond sick and tired, and eons passed my last nerve.

Enough of my rambling, here’s last weeks…

*** Back to last weeks Link Day Friday POST ***

((*I take no credit for any of the work or the photos posted here. Click this source article and visit the links available by photo there; & give some credit to the creators where it’s due! Thanks Guys I miss you all deeply! ;D))

This first string art pumpkin is my favorite. I am really loving this technique seen in many different DIY settings as of late but, I just don’t seem to have all tools needed (as usual lol)!

However … LO & I (mom) have Sinus Infections (cant hear see smell taste eat grrrrrr!), and TEEN has mystery illness. My teen, now known as “mystery girl“–had her first (mystery illness) with no diagnosis at 6, we haven't stopped calling her that. She always seems to catch the germs no Pediatric Specialist could even decifer the code for. Well, now “mystery girl” has done it again. Obvious results from Doctor yesterday showing signs of infection, duh; of course a slight positive for Mononeucleosis at ER Doctor today; whom is sending her tomorrow to Pediatrician Hospital Doctor, 45 minutes away.

Did I mention how incredibly excited LO & I sick as dogs are to get dragged along during all these snot filled horrible boring hospital trips. Not that I really care however, becuase someone better get to the bottom of this illness! It's getting exhausting especially for TEEN whom just wants to feel better yesterday… ;(

What we did at our house this Season, was buy a large bag of small pumpkins. Due to the illnesses I’ve had to think “inside the box” (“inside the house” that is); finding various creations to share. OK, NOW Get your pumpkins ready becuase I have a lot more links I will be sharing with you over the weekend!

Come back and share Your Link in Comments of your fantastically healthy weekend creations, how-to guides, your own tutorials, a pumpkin DIY you’ve got to try; I dare to share!

Oh yeah, sniff sniff *ouch* here's the inspiration. Photos aren't mine, I don't steal, credit through links ACHOO!

LOVE THE TWINE!

COLOR COLOUR COLOR!

Please, do check out the link that contains 36 other even more creative pumpkin diy/crafts you can do with the children…cuz ya know, you're not all snotty sick n stuff.

ENJOY!

Blessings and LOVE,

On Line Memory Keepers

If you follow me on Instagram (see our latest in Life on Instagram in right side bar there–>) you will discover a few really cool different iTunes photo editing Apps, that I just adore!

While on Instagram, I tend to use their regular choices filters, to brighten, blur, or lighten a focal point within an image as a corrective measure lol. You’ll notice I favor one in particular that I am slightly obsessed with, iTunes My PopAGraph App.  Read more about PopAGraph here…

Like I have said before:

an image taken, is more than just a ‘photo’. It contains the ultimate visual expression closest to tangible form of our very own personal experience; and pieces of our memories…”

The editing tools on PopAGraph allows us to re-create the memory, even a little further. The main idea being to have the focal point of any image ‘pop’ or ‘stand-out’ above the rest of its surroundings. For fun examples, look through my blog in the PopAGraph Category, or search #popagraph on Instagram. Colour’s come to life, vibrance is at your fingertips; its like emotions are Popping off the page with feeling!

(OH YEAH, **this post has been updated as it was to be shared prior to my Hospital stay last Wednesday…these are some photo examples of what we share on ‘insta‘ –which would have also covered last weeks Weekly Photo Challenge: “One Shot, Two Ways”)

As a mother of two, I am so over trying to find the space to keep loads, piles, and endless years of paper memories from my children’s youth –Phew!

InsteadI followed the footsteps of another (blogger mom, nope cant remember where from either lol) and started utilizing the digital on-line storage capabilities sites like Instagram have to freely offer! Now, I take photographs of the bests of the childrens/teens crafts or paperworks, add a description, a unique date in a hashtag form; and upload the lot there. Using the applications like Photo Journals. Best part is each image is dated, signed, sealed, away, and organized another AHHHHH… Phew

blue dots, portrait

blue dots, portrait view of LOs craft from aug2013

This way its keeping track for me and LO the different levels of her development, achievements, and growth. What’s better than also being able to present that growth to your child as they get older!? Especially with my LO as she struggles with Developmental Delays. The photo journal entries are simply incredible memory holders for us all!

Instagram holds all of our images on their storage too, which saves us on computer storage space. Leave the images within your iPhone Photo Stream (where they are stored under “Instagram”) with the immediate availability to *print at your fingertips! Instead of the Mess!:D

NOTE:  For *Print immediately options see your printers instructions. See they are  e-print or air print compatible.*

The other sites available for photo journals like this are flickr (which we dont use) and tumblr. You can create free accounts, store photos, dated and descriptive. Flickr even includes the type of camera some images were taken with.

******************

That’s it for now. WE have been recovering as a family from a series of unfortunate events–literally, not the movie title although at times I feel as though life itself was trying to rid me of the experience LOL! We’ve been from a flood, to mould exposure, lived in a trailer and Grandmas, and icing on the cake, renovated apartment without a floor; after just being released from hospital with a bout of (viral) Meningitis for me!

Despite the trials and hardships, I have learned more as a person in the last month than I hav ever learned in life. About Life itself. We are all happy, all in one piece, and feel as though we’ve just got another new apartment ;D …

There is always a silver lining or a good side. What’s yours? Has your summer somehow worked out to be a non-vacation work-through type as well? Did it start out bad and reveal some good? What’s your blue spot on your shiny summer? What shined through most for you?!

Link Day Friday

Now, for the links– I get excited when readers stop to click for a peek at these links;) More then just sharing the information, I have been following these sites and their curators for some time now. They’re part of my routine. Alot of them share even more blogger resources. Trust me, keep these on hand! I promise they will delight your inbox and are each creative, worthy reads. Whichever you chose here’s the best of late:

1). Sash, curator of Inked In Colour:

Outside of her blogs natural exterior beauty, Sash expresses herself passionately on issues important to her, and her readers.  As an Australian born woman she offers thought and conversational provoking view points with graceful assertiveness. As a Mother, she offers us an in-depth look into her experience in fostering creativity in children, plus her parenting and the ever so relatable piece containing bitter/sweet battles with child- ‘Weaning Hell‘! We Moms have all had some trouble with that at some point!

2).  Handmade Charolette

A site you may already be happily familiar with. Handmade Charolette is a web-collection full of blogging Mom’s providing inspiration for creative learning, and handmade DIY projects for children. The main focus by its creator, is on DIY Crafts & Design for Kids. Like them on their  Facebook Page for much more community communication, follow up photos, and further fun links.

3).  Discovered through Handmade Charolette’s contributors, was the  Natalia Kramer on her Google Plus Profile. Posts, photos, and links of her DIY craft projects. Kramers designs bring a child’s imagination to life, with designs jumping off the page!

4). Small for Big

…is where I found a valuable ABC’s Letter Playground idea link! Mari Richards‘ blog contains happy colors, and crafting DIY’s I just cannot explain in words. Her children’s toy finds beyond creatively unique.

Share your favorite creative kids activity, craft makers, DIY-ers, or your own link below.

We’re a busy little family this weekend. Maybe I’ll upload “One Shot, Two Ways” at some point again, when time;) Check out my Pinterest Boards for much more “pin-spiration”. Children’s World, DIY, and Land Of Etsy are full of useful information.

Bikes and Puddles

No signs of life in our neighbourhood.
The odd car passing.
A person heard coughing, here and there.
A distant car door shut.
I know there’s sounds of life somewhere in the distance…
It’s just not here…it’s silent,
on our child-filled street?

Why?

Because it rained?! And, besides, there’s still clouds in the sky!?

SO?

Didn’t you like to run, jump, splatter, splish and splash, or ride your bike through the huge puddles after the rain? Watch the back wheel create large waves of dirty water stains up your back? WOO HOO! RIGHT? The fear of the ‘impending doom’ riding next to the far off thunder sounds, a screech with each lightening bolt ‘over there’ once the storms passed? Remember the absolute freedom of bike riding? The inner sense of enormous accomplishment and fearless puddle riding! Feel It!Feel that wind in your hair!

Why Not let Your children?

Why not Let your kids be kids?

Last night we were out riding bikes, making water splooshing videos on @Instagram, right after the rain.
TRUTH: we didn’t melt when it started to spit either! We jumped, ran, rode, played Swamp Monster games, chasing each other, in our running shoes, wet clothing, and we LIVED! We did it with no cell phone interruption, and one on one pretend role play! Me and the LO. AND, The carpet and the floor survived too, even when we came trudging water and dirt, laughing our heads off through the house, after 8pm at least! lol!

Funny, I started writing this post last night after rain play (too tired to finish); and woke to this Orange Rhino post entitled,
“If I Were A Kid” …

Yep, me and my 4 year old. Alone. Not a child in sight. We even watched one child wave from inside her porch (looking sadly, maybe wishing her mother would let her out in the rain to play)…

My question to you is Why Not? Why Not let them play in the rain? Why Not let them play After a rain? It’s thee best time to play outside and interact.

20130629-082606.jpg

20130629-082759.jpg

20130629-082835.jpg

We live directly across the street from an entire huge ‘complex’ of homes with neighbourhood children. Some dangerously silly: some of whom I scared away from the road for waving and yelling at passing strangers cars last week (that’s a whole other ‘stranger danger’ post maybe their parents should have read?)…but, they’re hiding from the porch during rain? Are they out of towels? We have lots of towels!
In fact, we even bring towels to the local family park after the rain!? Why Not? Why Not wipe down the slides, swings, monkey bars, right after that terrifying Rain Water, and Let Kids Be Kids?

Let me remind you Moms and Dads alike: You Were Kids Once!

All of the pesky annoying frustrating situations you put your parents through, You survived! Even They survived! Let them spill, smile, make a mess, jump in puddles, stain their clothes(perish the thought!) even the ‘name brand’ ones (if you go there–I don’t!) Look back at your own experiences in childhood. Remember the irresponsibility and the light heart; and freedoms that made you feel…Now, take YOUR children there.

Let us know what activities Your Parents didn’t agree with that You Did and now allow your children to do? Maybe let me know why they’re not allowed out to play in the rain? Share your fun stories you do differently that make other parents ‘wonder about you’ lol!
I know MY neighbourhood does! And Im ok with that!

Summer Fun Photo Update

A collection of our latest fun in photos (with minimal descriptions I promise!) through the last 2 weeks.

The intention is to inspire ideas for parents. No specific crafts, just fun times. I always find photos from my mommy blogger friends can ignite a creative spark in me, for craft or activity ideas! Enjoy!

1. The (gently used) New Princess Bike! with training wheels.
2 weekends ago, my LO’s2nd hand black, with faded pink wheels and blue lighting bolts across the standing space, birthday gift, and first ever Scooter: WAS STOLEN Yep! From our small town’s local ‘family’ park.

We live in what is reported to be thee ‘safest town in Ontario, Canada‘. Our Scooters cant spend a night forgotten by a young child, without being taken? Saddest part was not that. LO was so elated regardless of scooters ‘condition’ she brought the Scooter inside, parked it right at her bedside, every single night for at least the first 4 nights; kissing it to bed nightly. She only had it a month maybe. I posted flyers, sent notes to Editor in newspaper, even wrote on their Facebook Page; to no avail. Good News: This bike came from the missing scooter. LO was a confident rider, after just the 1st day; and it’s too big for our bedroom!

20130627-151225.jpg
2. LO infamous for scratching her mosquito bites until they bleed ouch! Has to wear bandaids, until she learns not too! LO met up with her favorite girlfriend from out of town. They were supermodel posers; and had a make-up makeover in the Park–my LO goes no where without her purse. LOL

20130627-171350.jpg
3. Best spent $7.00 on a Water Snake Sprinkler from Walmart for the backyard. We beat this humidity and add plenty of outdoor fun. Welcomed LOs favorite neighbour for water play!

my girl always seems to hog the spotlight

20130627-171726.jpg
4. Had too many of these to even count since last I shared here on my Blog! Campfires in my backyard has always been one of the dreams I have had, for my home and children. Even in our ‘house’ we never had one. We are very blessed and try to enjoy a fire a night when we can.

20130627-172020.jpg
more goofiness around the campfire. you can take the girl away from the clown (being her father) but, you cant take the clown out of the girl! (that part of his inherent personality I am so grateful for)

20130627-172211.jpg
5. You guys knew I was going to use at least 1 #PopAGraph iTunes App photo right?!
From a visit to Grandma’s.

20130627-172430.jpg
6. Playing ‘smash the balls’ (ask me later) in the backyard. This is LO ‘keeping her EYE on the BALL‘ I was laughing so hard, no mater what I said, this is what she would do!

20130627-172557.jpg
7. Went to a new church Free Flea Market and Lunch and fun with the other members. Amazing place. It is now our home church. On the hours walk up hill with the wagon; we stopped multiple times to enjoy God’s provided beauty here. A Squirrel collecting.

20130627-172743.jpg
8. Me and the LO posing with the stream in the background (cannot be seen) right next to the Squirrel.

2 more photos on my way out from @Popagraph app. Find them on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram: @PopAGraph or #popagraph search and PURCHASE NOW! lol its an amazing photo effects app for everyone. Hope you enjoyed this post. Check in next week for better writing. I am short on time. Doing my Best and sending my Best to You All!!
