OK, Now its time to talk about ME lol! As promised, I have much new fruitful learnings to share with my fellows here, from the many adventures  throughout our “lovely” Summer experiences! Like I say, “Onward and Upward”

SOME DIY

As you all know I am convinced in some delirious part of my brain, that I can complete a DIY! In fact, I have semi-completed 1 so far. The painting and gluing will be the last steps to the (DIY towel rack) completion. In the meantime, I have also added to the mix a few more pieces of DIY inspiration for our new white walls/blank canvas, in our (rental) apartment we have at our decor disposal now. I myself am almost frightened of what I will do or think of next.

SOME LESSONS

And, that fact, has got me thinking alot more lately…I have always had a fear of completion. I dont know where it stems from. When I was a full blown alcoholic/addict, I had never completed any thing in my life, from start to finish. Not Once. Besides grades 1 through 11. Even my University career has been shortlived or started and not finished; ever. Tried twice already, and I am soon on my third; so I’d better figure this out FAST! TEEN’s own University career is up for discussion as of late and I’m feeling inadequate for advice or inspiration, never having completed my own. Of course, its for one reason or another. It’s never that I’d set out to start something and not finish–it’s just seemed to always turn out that way.

I even remember giving birth to TEEN, saying to my Mother “hey, thats the first thing I have ever done full circle, from start to finish Mom!” The second thing I ever completed once the one thing that saved my life. The 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous (with a Sponsor). The memory of finishing the 12th Step is clear as yesterday. It was 8 years plus ago. We sat on a bench outside our meeting space, under a low-rise condominium. The second we completed the reading portion a splash of fresh fallen rain water fell beside us with a loud noise that made us startle! The water represented for me the baptism of joining my new life. FYI – I also promised a post regarding my addiction experiences. I will get around to finishing it … soon ;)

Told you I learned alot from our experiences this summer. About me, my children, my family, friends, neighbours and beliefs. There’s a few things I am working on inside. I have much more to share but, lets talk swag decor now (lol! swag).

THE GOOD STUFF:

My Photos:

Presenting the first to be completed actually, my Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamp Art

Dollarama | Crinkle-Cut Potato Slicer

Our potatoe slices made with the Dollarama six year old ‘crinkle-cut potato slicer’

I chose this crinkle-cut slicer to create a unique characteristic in our DIY (to be different from the original idea as well); hopingto give a wavy sort of look on the paint.

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamp

OH! Cut potato in opposite directions again for uniqueness in our interpretation

Grabbed LOs small already cut-off black shorts, knowing the next day was to be a hot one here. The black helps boast the bright neons chosen for paint. Age and condition of the shorts only assisted me in being ok with messing up, which is always a great possibility when I set out to do, anything;)

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamped clothing choice

TIP:  Slip cardboard between fabric to prevent sticking, bleeding of paint colour, & preventing ‘bunched up’ paint stamp

YES, I thought of that TIPall on my own ;D

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamper

just a cool shot

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamp - first stamp

aww … our first stamp – nail biting!

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamp - LO

LO is now an experienced fashion designer

LO was so excited to wear her shorts I don’t know how I managed to get her to sleep. Next day we both decided to show off our home DIY ‘fashion designs’ together! I love watching LOs posture just rise three-feet higher as she prances into school, announcing her creation to impressed teachers and classmates. With her developmental delays LO doesn’t have many other children understand or approach her for play. I encourage her creativity to offer her a way to introduce herself and add more verbal communication between her and her fellows (at daycare/”school”).

The sweet reveal images:

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamp - tank top reveal

here she is! my tank top reveal

Unfortunately, LO wouldn’t stay still for a photo of her shorts. They all appear too blurry to post. Now, remember I am no photo genius or no DIY genius! The next shots were fun in the moment try-ons and non-professional.

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamp - opps

Oppsie! NO I am NOT pregnant, although this photo makes it look like I am from a distance!

Definitely no chance of pregnancy with this blogger…last photo is my favorite. The back of my tank top turned out much better than the front; probably because I did the back last. Next time I will learn the mistakes that way.

completed tank top

completed project #1 ;) We actually got compliments all day about our clothes!

Remember, This is just one of the projects I have started around the house. PLEASE, I welcome the push to see me complete and POST my projects! I’d love to hear your colour recommendations, or different ideas and inspirations you’d like to share with me. Consider me your DIY Ginea Pig:  If I have the tools, I will try it! Leave behind a link to ANY DIY projects you’ve posted completed or started LOL around the house; you know, so I know Im not alone in learning how to FINISH things!

As I have said in the past, if you like my photos and wish to use them, just ask or drop me a line of the content it’s been featured in, thanks. Remember, these are my family time photos and I expect them to be shared in the same manner.

On Line Memory Keepers

If you follow me on Instagram (see our latest in Life on Instagram in right side bar there–>) you will discover a few really cool different iTunes photo editing Apps, that I just adore!

While on Instagram, I tend to use their regular choices filters, to brighten, blur, or lighten a focal point within an image as a corrective measure lol. You’ll notice I favor one in particular that I am slightly obsessed with, iTunes My PopAGraph App.  Read more about PopAGraph here…

Like I have said before:

an image taken, is more than just a ‘photo’. It contains the ultimate visual expression closest to tangible form of our very own personal experience; and pieces of our memories…”

The editing tools on PopAGraph allows us to re-create the memory, even a little further. The main idea being to have the focal point of any image ‘pop’ or ‘stand-out’ above the rest of its surroundings. For fun examples, look through my blog in the PopAGraph Category, or search #popagraph on Instagram. Colour’s come to life, vibrance is at your fingertips; its like emotions are Popping off the page with feeling!

(OH YEAH, **this post has been updated as it was to be shared prior to my Hospital stay last Wednesday…these are some photo examples of what we share on ‘insta‘ –which would have also covered last weeks Weekly Photo Challenge: “One Shot, Two Ways”)

blue dots landscape

blue dots –landscape view of LO’s crafts aug2013

As a mother of two, I am so over trying to find the space to keep loads, piles, and endless years of paper memories from my children’s youth –Phew!

InsteadI followed the footsteps of another (blogger mom, nope cant remember where from either lol) and started utilizing the digital on-line storage capabilities sites like Instagram have to freely offer! Now, I take photographs of the bests of the childrens/teens crafts or paperworks, add a description, a unique date in a hashtag form; and upload the lot there. Using the applications like Photo Journals. Best part is each image is dated, signed, sealed, away, and organized another AHHHHH… Phew

blue dots, portrait

blue dots, portrait view of LOs craft from aug2013

This way its keeping track for me and LO the different levels of her development, achievements, and growth. What’s better than also being able to present that growth to your child as they get older!? Especially with my LO as she struggles with Developmental Delays. The photo journal entries are simply incredible memory holders for us all!

Instagram holds all of our images on their storage too, which saves us on computer storage space. Leave the images within your iPhone Photo Stream (where they are stored under “Instagram”) with the immediate availability to *print at your fingertips! Instead of the Mess!:D

NOTE:  For *Print immediately options see your printers instructions. See they are  e-print or air print compatible.*

The other sites available for photo journals like this are flickr (which we dont use) and tumblr. You can create free accounts, store photos, dated and descriptive. Flickr even includes the type of camera some images were taken with.

******************

That’s it for now. WE have been recovering as a family from a series of unfortunate events–literally, not the movie title although at times I feel as though life itself was trying to rid me of the experience LOL! We’ve been from a flood, to mould exposure, lived in a trailer and Grandmas, and icing on the cake, renovated apartment without a floor; after just being released from hospital with a bout of (viral) Meningitis for me!

Despite the trials and hardships, I have learned more as a person in the last month than I hav ever learned in life. About Life itself. We are all happy, all in one piece, and feel as though we’ve just got another new apartment ;D …

There is always a silver lining or a good side. What’s yours? Has your summer somehow worked out to be a non-vacation work-through type as well? Did it start out bad and reveal some good? What’s your blue spot on your shiny summer? What shined through most for you?!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Foreshadow | Where’s the Honey!?

Continued from my last Weekly Photo Challenge: Foreshadow | Green to Growth which is more a foreseen process than specifically foreshadow-ing, I thought it best to follow up with this post!

The Only thing thats missing is the:
‘Honey’

NOTE: pay close attention to the movements inside some images, you will catch an important insect, or two, or three … this is tied into last foreshadow post.

It is the final movement lol, in the Green to Growth process. My last photo entry for the foreshadow theme.

a sneak peek

My overview from across the plant. Look closely now, you will see the final addition to piece…

there's one

The rest are the amazing incredible iPhone 4S shots I took this morning… With precise movement views of the workers present .. You will have to look over the images full screen. A few shots actually catch more flying in from different sides and areas of the photos.

a lil' worker

“Where’s the Honey hunny?” These next shots are my favorite!

    A kind reminder

No need to just take my photos, copyright laws apply. You need written permission to reproduce: just ask... I’m a nice person, I’ll likely say Yes! ( with the right royalties and contracts of course;) )

shots of many

actually found most of the area I was photographing was literally full of at least my count 6 bees in total!

This was an absolutely wondrous experience for me. The flower bush is located at the steps of a restaurant, on the corner of two main roads. The bees were working and didn’t even notice me. I watched them frolic like children in leaves… Standing their in awe at their perfect positions, I couldn’t help but see them as children rolling down grass sided hills, giggling in the fields. It was like I wasn’t even there. An Alice In Wonderland moment I suppose.

a little closer

…I moved in a little closer, not without fear though lol…

The traffic probably starred I didn’t care… I hand more imagined myself getting chased home by hundreds of angry Bumble Bees! (Phew!)

notice the right

Are You Paying Close Attention to the beauty here?

Completely captivating …

I had to get closer still …

Views of two or more

views of two: this photo has three bees in total.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Foreshadow | Green to Growth

Summertime leafs, less and less room for writing in my household. The Weekly Photo Challenges offered by the Daily Post here on WordPress, has provided me an outlet for sharing our experience regardless of the time to write, being unavailable for now. This post covers my postaday tag from the challenge and sums up some of the daily summer occurrences within our little family unit.

The foreshadow idea is ‘green pods foreshadow flowers growth’

A Perfectly Poised Pod

A Perfect Pod, this is only one of the many perfectly poised pods we found on our walk.

Since being first introduced to angellicsscalliwags blog on WordPress and her Nature Study posts containing lesson details from her homeschooled children, my LO and I have been infatuated with nature influenced picture taking. We’ve watched a large trees one year change process, and enjoyed searching for the swamp Monster in Spring through seeking signs of growth/life, in our own nature adventures

Green to Growth

Green to Growth this flower shares each step in the growth process, many times over through its bush

We can see clearly something’s coming….

This flower (I don’t remember her name), has each set of its growth processes, apparent daily on its own large joyful bush! One flower type, expressing its lives steps.

These are the remaining photos for now. I wanted to complete this post firstly. I have better quality photos to add this afternoon

I hope you enjoy a look around the process for now. Stop over Moms (parents, caregivers, and homeschoolers alike) at angelicsscalliwags for a lesson in nature. There’s a world of learning going on at Mrs.Claire’s

Growth

Presenting Growth, the final step is in your enjoyment. I will be adding more high quality photos of these flowers later. Enjoy for now!

Thank you kindly for stopping by.

I would like to offer my readers a look into the other bloggers who take these photography challenges above and beyond, just taking pictures (like me). I don’t have the photographer skills they do, and I will share their links as time permits. For now, you can find a section of PingBacks and links left by these talented folks, under the original Weekly Photo Challenge: Foreshadow | in the Comments section. ;)

**Additional photo update**

None of these images have been altered or edited in anyway (accept to ‘crop’ for up close detailed enjoyment)

Again no editing….See our other many photo ventures in the categoryPopAGraph“!

Perfectly Poised in Pink

Perfectly poised in pink. You can almost see the flower, holding her head up in confidence.

And, before the last, just a reminder:

I ask before I share anyone’s photos for any reason and I expect you to do the same. These photos are taken by me and cannot be reproduced in any way, without first my written consent! Which I dislike when people write so let me finish with:  Im a nice girl chances are I’d say Yes, just be respectful and Ask Me k, Thanks! ;)

that's it from Green to Growth ...

that’s it, from Green to Growth…but, we all knew this was coming.

My absolute fav!

JayNine xo

PS- I will be back to writing my adventures in parenting shortly. Thank you readers for your patience with me here. These photos are taken of a bush we walk by daily to get LO to ‘school’. It’s a perfect living example of each step in the process of flowers ‘Green to Growth’

foreshadow

foreshadowa perfect example of the definition. coming of a perfect storm. Saturday, August 3rd, 2013.

Pay close attention to the cloud details through this post. They’re just irreplaceable views!

You can see the rains falling in the patch of darker blue in the center of the screen. Foreshadowing the arrival of a rain sorry. Along with its zealous dark clouds, a perfect picture from natures own creation.

Storm Foreshadow

Its interesting how we could just watch the rain traveling from one town to another. I am grateful for the opportunity to experience such incredible views. I wanted to edit the image but, getting the full effect of its movements, really required leaving in the school building there.

Notice the gap between Suns past rays, slightly get smaller in the image to follow…

Closer and Closer

Notice the gap between the Suns and building distance grow smaller, before your eyes in these images…

CLOUDS!!!

“Mind the Gap”

As Stroms dark blanket rages, passing over house…

Darkness Pauses

the Darkness Pauses as the Storm prepares to flee

 Just LOOK at Those CLOUDS!

I am like a big child. I could lye on the grass with LO forever just to marvel at the personalities of the skies that thrive above us.

And of course, the big finale however usual an occurrence, however typical it is to have after storm, this just wasn’t expected. The type of ‘rain storm’ we had, just seemed normal, and without clues to its next reveal.

“Without further ado, the pièce de résistance”

rainbows and promises

rainbows and promises to be seen …

Always grateful for the opportunity to reveal at the wonders of natures glory.

The remainder of this week is still the foreshadow theme from the Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge. Durning this busy season of summer vacations, traveling, family and sun enjoyment, finding the time to post at all can be a challenge in itself. Subscribing to the Daily Post offers us bloggers a chance to remain communicating with our faithful readers. Taking part in challenges like these, come with many benefit.

Their simple themes influence post creations, keeping you at the top of your blogs activity. Offering your readers the opportunity to keep up with your latest adventures or thoughts; with photos to enjoy. For the folks not only interested in photo challenges, daily post also sends you email notifications for writing challenges as well. Personal writing, creative writing, themed; find out more through their categories results

The possibilities of personal goal achievements are endless!

Personally, I haven’t had anytime to write a well-thought out post, in a long while (due our present set of unforeseen circumstances, lol: I will posted about that when I can).  Up here in Canada, we’ve ‘Long Weekend’ here, in Ontario. Much excitement activity and company, stealing a day away from my regular routines, lol. It’s been quite the family “fun”… so to speak! (saying THAT with a whole lotta SARCASM! Hey, maybe I should suggest Sarcasm for next weeks Weekly Photo Challenge: Theme | ?! Why Not!? HA! Cuz’ that Joke would be on me for that one! ;)*

There are however, much more important issues going on in this world around us that I have written briefly in my last worded post. I hope you will take a look at This is For Maile, Pass it On… As the situation there takes priority  over my first world problems here anyday. ours here.

An apology to my regular readers, and hope you will stick around for some good ole writing as soon as I can get back on my stylish feet again. In the meantime, take care of you; you’re in our thoughts daily ;)
