OK, Now its time to talk about ME lol! As promised, I have much new fruitful learnings to share with my fellows here, from the many adventures  throughout our “lovely” Summer experiences! Like I say, “Onward and Upward”

SOME DIY

As you all know I am convinced in some delirious part of my brain, that I can complete a DIY! In fact, I have semi-completed 1 so far. The painting and gluing will be the last steps to the (DIY towel rack) completion. In the meantime, I have also added to the mix a few more pieces of DIY inspiration for our new white walls/blank canvas, in our (rental) apartment we have at our decor disposal now. I myself am almost frightened of what I will do or think of next.

SOME LESSONS

And, that fact, has got me thinking alot more lately…I have always had a fear of completion. I dont know where it stems from. When I was a full blown alcoholic/addict, I had never completed any thing in my life, from start to finish. Not Once. Besides grades 1 through 11. Even my University career has been shortlived or started and not finished; ever. Tried twice already, and I am soon on my third; so I’d better figure this out FAST! TEEN’s own University career is up for discussion as of late and I’m feeling inadequate for advice or inspiration, never having completed my own. Of course, its for one reason or another. It’s never that I’d set out to start something and not finish–it’s just seemed to always turn out that way.

I even remember giving birth to TEEN, saying to my Mother “hey, thats the first thing I have ever done full circle, from start to finish Mom!” The second thing I ever completed once the one thing that saved my life. The 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous (with a Sponsor). The memory of finishing the 12th Step is clear as yesterday. It was 8 years plus ago. We sat on a bench outside our meeting space, under a low-rise condominium. The second we completed the reading portion a splash of fresh fallen rain water fell beside us with a loud noise that made us startle! The water represented for me the baptism of joining my new life. FYI – I also promised a post regarding my addiction experiences. I will get around to finishing it … soon ;)

Told you I learned alot from our experiences this summer. About me, my children, my family, friends, neighbours and beliefs. There’s a few things I am working on inside. I have much more to share but, lets talk swag decor now (lol! swag).

THE GOOD STUFF:

My Photos:

Presenting the first to be completed actually, my Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamp Art

Dollarama | Crinkle-Cut Potato Slicer

Our potatoe slices made with the Dollarama six year old ‘crinkle-cut potato slicer’

I chose this crinkle-cut slicer to create a unique characteristic in our DIY (to be different from the original idea as well); hopingto give a wavy sort of look on the paint.

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamp

OH! Cut potato in opposite directions again for uniqueness in our interpretation

Grabbed LOs small already cut-off black shorts, knowing the next day was to be a hot one here. The black helps boast the bright neons chosen for paint. Age and condition of the shorts only assisted me in being ok with messing up, which is always a great possibility when I set out to do, anything;)

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamped clothing choice

TIP:  Slip cardboard between fabric to prevent sticking, bleeding of paint colour, & preventing ‘bunched up’ paint stamp

YES, I thought of that TIPall on my own ;D

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamper

just a cool shot

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamp - first stamp

aww … our first stamp – nail biting!

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamp - LO

LO is now an experienced fashion designer

LO was so excited to wear her shorts I don’t know how I managed to get her to sleep. Next day we both decided to show off our home DIY ‘fashion designs’ together! I love watching LOs posture just rise three-feet higher as she prances into school, announcing her creation to impressed teachers and classmates. With her developmental delays LO doesn’t have many other children understand or approach her for play. I encourage her creativity to offer her a way to introduce herself and add more verbal communication between her and her fellows (at daycare/”school”).

The sweet reveal images:

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamp - tank top reveal

here she is! my tank top reveal

Unfortunately, LO wouldn’t stay still for a photo of her shorts. They all appear too blurry to post. Now, remember I am no photo genius or no DIY genius! The next shots were fun in the moment try-ons and non-professional.

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamp - opps

Oppsie! NO I am NOT pregnant, although this photo makes it look like I am from a distance!

Definitely no chance of pregnancy with this blogger…last photo is my favorite. The back of my tank top turned out much better than the front; probably because I did the back last. Next time I will learn the mistakes that way.

completed tank top

completed project #1 ;) We actually got compliments all day about our clothes!

Remember, This is just one of the projects I have started around the house. PLEASE, I welcome the push to see me complete and POST my projects! I’d love to hear your colour recommendations, or different ideas and inspirations you’d like to share with me. Consider me your DIY Ginea Pig:  If I have the tools, I will try it! Leave behind a link to ANY DIY projects you’ve posted completed or started LOL around the house; you know, so I know Im not alone in learning how to FINISH things!

As I have said in the past, if you like my photos and wish to use them, just ask or drop me a line of the content it’s been featured in, thanks. Remember, these are my family time photos and I expect them to be shared in the same manner.

Lessons while Driving

Each and every time, without fail, that I get the opportunity to drive any friends car, alone, without the children, on a nice day (or not); I cannot help but do a few of the following:

* HONK at cows!
A MUST!are you kidding me! They are the coolest creatures on earth and have a great life. Stand, sit, lye, eat, sleep, Repeat. If I believed in re-incarnation, I’d want to be a cow. (but, not one that would be harmed…) I’d have a bunch of fabulous buddies, hangin in the feilds, chewin complainin chatin, moooo’in; maxin and relaxin. Really! Feed me lots, and let me roam. Having already had, the opportunity to feel like a “milked” cow during breast feeding; I am not sure I’d mind that part very much either! Seriously, HONK AT A COW the next time you see a bunch on a country drive: WATCH their reaction! They really appreciate it!

** SING!
ooohh no, not just sing a tune here and there! I talking half way out the window like a dog on a hot day SING. Like in EVERY video of Mariah Carey type: hair stickin to my poppin lip gloss, beltin it out fearlessly–like I THINK I can actually sing. I cannot sing to save my own life but, I do it anyways!
What I enjoy most is the reactions I get from passerby folks or at the lights. Strangers starring. I just pretend I cannot see their faces. Holding a straight face is a difficult game. Some sing along, give a wave, look at me like I have 3 heads–doesnt change my tone. It is thee only place I know I wont see these people again.
TIP: Epecially fun when driving out of your own town.

*** PRAY:
Praying in a vehicle for me reminds me of when I first got ‘clean and sober’ 7+ years ago and ‘re-found God’ (whom had never left, another post..). There was once of these anonymous ‘poems’ or encouraging writings by someone just circulating around at the time with the suggestion: “..when in doubt, talk to the Empty Chair”. It was some kind of representation for sitting across a seat speaking to Jesus. I LOVED THAT idea, and in fact I used it often. In a vehicle is where I get that opportunity again. A reminder of the fresh newly renewed adoration I had for God that I had back then. I believed then, at any given moment I didn’t ask God to ‘be with me’ that I would die or relapse. “..And to relapse was to die anyway, that is just how it was for us (me)” … Which brings me straight into my next MUST and DRIVE:

*** CRY like a baby:
YEP, drive and cry. Pullover if it’s real bad even. I will cry to any song that has touching words. The beat or tempo has no meaning to me (unless its crap).
I CRY uncontrollably each and every single time I get to drive a friends car. It’s almost pathetic.

LIST OF CRYING SONGS:
“Christmas Shoes” seriously, don’t even try NOT to cry listening to that.
— “Livin On A Prayer” by Bon Jovi
(Original Version is nothing compared to live!)that’s another one of those ‘early sobriety songs’ for me.

TODAY, specifically THIS song HIT me in the HEART:

These are the words. No matter what “Genre” you care for, this song spoke to my core. The ‘humane being’ in me.
I don’t expect you to like it. agree with it…even listen to the words.
This was my moment today. In my experience, this was the uncontrollable cry for me today in particular.
(Here is the link to the words to read of the song.)

I can barely put into words what I felt inside today. About myself. About life. About people I knew. About humanity at it’s worst and it’s best. It. Just. Hit. Me. Hard. link to YouTube.
Close Your Eyes and Imagine Your Children.

I have never heard this before.
It’s an old one: According to my teen.
Take a listen here; or read the words.

THE LAST Song was: “People Like Us” by Kelly Clarkson I have never heard before. In the moment I needed an upbeat song! It fit the bill and I pretended to know the words as I sang….(listen or watch video below)
Instantly, I started thinking of my WordPress Family and friends. All of you! I don’t have time to list you all. Besides, you know who you all are. Not picking favs but a must mention Sista feels like an extended missing family member!

Driving lesson for today:
LISTEN, drive safe, pray, smile, laugh, have fun —
and SING REALLY LOUD when you drive!!!

What crazy stuff do you do while driving? Have you seen anyone like me drive near you? What is your first thought or reaction? Share your Comment below! We all love to hear them!

See ya’s later My Herd,

Such a great email to wake up to! It’s bitter sweet however because it reminds us that we are still 2 out of 4 total missing teen girls in the last 5 months…brings deep sadness thinking of why can 2 return and not the others.

My prayers and hopes for A Seasonal Miracle however, have been restored. Please join me in hope, help, support, in love and search for the remaining missing:

Bramptons Missing Teen Mila Johnson

Bramptons Missing Teen Mila Johnson

TWEET #findMilaJohnson – Mila Johnson Is Brampton ON’s Missing Teen

TheStar Article: Brampton Family Searches for missing 16 year old Girl (The Toronto Star’s original first article)#findMilaJohnson

Firstly, I’m just a supportive Mom that heard my nieces friend was missing. I HAVE met, in a few short visits, Mila Johnson. In much experiencs with youth, I found Mila gentle, sweet, quiet, funny, as I watched her interact with my own children and family.
I have no connections to the Police or their investigations, I do not endorse or oppose any ideas for finding Mila–I am simply, sharing and spreading the word.
Feel free to leave a supportive comment, prayer or share this with your Followers, reblog or the like.
YES! There ARE literally hundreds, thousands of missing children in Ontario Canada and MANY Other cities–I understand this. I Tweet about MILA JOHNSON #findmilajohnson and will; until she is home safe. WHY? BECAUSE Mila Johnson is a well respected, teen friend, of extended family. Because, If it was my child, I would expect my friends/acquaintences to do the same thing I am! TWEET: #findMilaJohnson
Mila Johnson should be spending countless time with friends texting, picture taking, laughing til they drop! Things girls their age are supposed to be doing! The joyous sounds I PRAY Mila’s family will soon hear…
Please, if MILA sees this and is out there nervous or afraid in anyway, because of all the publics interest:
Do not be afraid Mila! NOTHING ELSE matters more to anyone than your safe return. Please, call your family, Police, return home, call or even send a message…
My hope and purpose is to get people talking and listening. Listening to passerbys talking in the streets for MILA’s name, to encourage OurYouth with Valueable Information to call Peel Police at 222-TIPS to HELP.
More of us should mention Mila’s story on radio, tv, paper, everywhere–so Mila herself or perpetrators clearly understand: BRING MILA HOME!
The cold weather is FAST approaching, days are getting darker, colder, and longer–WE MUST act fast! I believe as a collective public, we have some form of responsibility in assisting to find today’s missing youth.
The WORLD has changed. Completely. PLEASE HELP. Keep tweeting and RT #findMilaJohnson today.
In closing and without a doubt, we send our empathetic support, prayers, to every Other Family with any type of missing loved one as well. Thank you for your time!

Sincerely,
Caring Mother,
(Representing ALL the Worried Moms)

KONY 2012 — with an Open Mind !

“Updated KONY efforts video coming soon … ”
(that is from the new ”Vimeo” video, the KONY admins released recently; updating their efforts & asking the social media followers, to send THEM Your efforts, on video, pictures, documentation of your leaders stating they’ll get involved in whatever way they can!)

It was a brief reminder that your efforts around the globe LITERALLY, ARE CREATING CHANGE!!
Vimeo video KONY 2012

The administrators posted a video on vimeo announcing the coming of the second “movie” next week–here’s my personal opinion towards those critics that r BASHING KONY 2012 project & what it is designed to accomplish…(hey, at least they’re trying to accomplish something, what r u trying to accomplish REALLY by negatively bashing people ALL OVER THE WORLD, for their choice of self direction? ! Would u prefer they all join a Movement on Let’s say…LEGALIZING MARIJUANA? Would u prefer their movement b about THAT!? Seriously? Then, let them “move” leave it alone!)

LOOK, even I HAVE my somewhat DOUBTS about KONY 2012 BUT, here’s what sets ME apart from the mass that completely DON’T believe, & spend their time posting & talking only about allll the untruths & negativity surrounding the creator(s), the movements efforts, origin, or what they THINK they know about what’s going on LRA regions of the World.
(Truth is, none of US are really there!!!
But, there was one person amongst others who really Went That Distance, n u beat him emotionally but not his spirit… Where r u, behind a computer screen?)

“J9sOPINION/perception….”

HERE’S THE THING: even if there’s no arrest at the end of world wide phenomenon, WHO are THE CRITICS TO DECIDE THAT BEFORE we complete our trial at capturing KONY? Who’s TIME R WE REEALLY WASTING, letting the World know that this stuff is going on??
I will post the video when i figure out & how OR, google it yourself! Just Maybe, it’ll give YOU, something else to critically tear apart to shreds!

OR–you could LOOK ON THE FACES of the Supporter Cities they show in this video…. SERIOUSLY…pause & really look at their faces–ALOT of TEENS!!!!
Look at them, they are our future!
YOUR FUTURE!
If THEY WANT To feel like THEY, “BELONG TO SOMETHING” THIS ENORMOUS, & even if they just end up getting a FEEL for “BEING PART of SOMETHING GREATER”, or a “WHOLE”, or sense of “PURPOSE”, or attention, or self recognition, maybe this is the first time some have been in front of a camera, gain some flicker of self esteem; what if they make some sort of “SENSE” out of THEIR LIVES, & control of THEIR FUTURES (cuz the future IS THEIRS) …then WHO ARE U CRITICS TO TAKE THAT AWAY FROM THEM????….

MAYBE, u critics should b looking at this GLOBAL MOVEMENT selfLESSly, instead of with SELFCENTERED tunnel vision, n LET the children of the future MAKE THEIR mark in THIS WAY! Let THEM make a difference! Let them belong!
Who are you Really, that you should spend your greatest efforts to try to “take the rug out from under their feet”–POWER TO THE PEOPLE LOL!!!
United we stand divided we fall or fail, it’s YOUR choice!
It’s THEIR choice!!
It’s OUR choice….

In conclusion, if you DON’T believe in what this Global Movement is attempting to do, then Don’t believe in it, but stop trying to ruin it for the masses! There are more believers than non, & that’s obvious. You, that don’t believe r the minority here, so you’re gripping at coat tails trying to drag the believers away! Stop trying & either “let it go”, or use your efforts in a constructive manner–who r they HARMING? Really? Harming? Right…so let it go n move on. Protest & work against those people trying to legalize illicit drugs like marijuana. Get the LEGAL DAMN DRUGS OFF the FREAKIN shelves, spend your critic time WISELY, for ASSISTING the GOOD, not trying to take the “good” DOWN! Let them believe! KONY 2012 asked for your SUPPORT & HELP–I don’t recall them asking for your APPROVAL of their movement or for your NEGATIVE INPUT??? That surely wasn’t in the first “movie” LOL

believers believe, non supporters move on…thanks for reading!
