I love gallery art.  When you have a large, blank wall in your house, groupings of framed art are a lovely way to fill the space.  When a collection of botanical prints are used in a gallery, it, in my opinion, provides an elegant and classy feel to any room.   Botanical framed art from Ballard Designs is pictured below.  I love this look, but it is pretty pricey.  I’ve spent some time collecting images and formatting them, so you can get this look for a TON less.

The Missouri Botanical Garden Library provides access to historic botanical literature through the site botanicus.org.  Some of the literature that is archived contains beautiful illustrations, which I have downloaded from the site and used photo editting software to perform some color correction of the images.  I selected 21 of the images, which I feel complement each…

Phenomenal … Really phenomenal.

Vimeo creative art video (& tear jerker) posted by Karni and Saul
https://vimeo.com/184859361

The music video shares a mothers feelings of what a perfect world would look like for her child.

Right now in times of giving and wars going on in the Middle East and beyond, I can’t help but be reminded of the children there, now orphaned, alone, lost, and left behind.

It is a super beautiful creative video that shouldn’t be missed.

Just remember the Kleenex, you’ll need it!

Happy Holidays,

All Grow’d Up

Not sure who is feeling greater the Separation Anxiety here, myself or my 5 year old? Almost joining the 40’s clubs and yet here I am feeling strangely ‘under the weather’ since Wednesday morning, exactly. How does this relate to any form of separation anxiety? I think the YUCK I feel is just that; my own anxiety! The youngest is moving up in the world and has started her first week of half-day Junior Kindergarten. (I’m estimating, thats probably around the Pre-K mark for my good ole’ American readers).

While the last three years or so my life has been completely thrown upside down, my energy, organization skills, efficiency in everything I used to do, has been absolutely exhausted and my soul strength utterly depleted (that is no estimation!). I simply still cannot help but believe that I, as the SSAHM (SINGLE Stay At Home Mom of 2) that has conquered bankruptcy twice (both times, financial, emotional, & spiritual) overcome homelessness and food-less-ness more times than I care to admit (which we may or may not still struggle with at times)….. this woman of all silver-linings and positive attitudes, find myself having real life separation anxiety from sending my LittleF to Pre-K like this. !?!?! Really?

I find it difficult to believe I am having separation anxiety. But, I guess I totally am. Looks like she’s all grow’d up and so I guess now, it’s my turn… What confuses me is that when I looked ahead from her younger years, I did not think I would feel such a strong sense of having to let go this quickly. I thought I had til at least teen-age lol. It has happened sooner than I had planned that’s for sure.

I have come to terms with my own parental-separation anxiety, is a normal part of the process. The entirety of the rest of our lives watching our children grow now, is now about letting go really.

We shall see what comes to the table next to get through. Hopefully, I will be able to start posting here again to keep track. Because I Promise, it is always something! 😉

Hope you will visit again soon! 💗

Jaynine

Today I wanted to share a super simple technique for producing gingerbread men tree ornaments! Tito and I will be giving these to our friends as stocking stuffers this Christmas, but they also make very cute gift tags.

You will need:

  • Polymer clay (I’m using Sculpey III, colour ‘gold’)*
  • Talcum powder
  • Cookie cutters
  • Inka Gold Metallic Rub (optional)
  • Acrylic Ink, and a small paintbrush
  • Something for making impressions in the clay (I’m using soap molds and dollar store jewellery)
  • Either a pasta machine or an acrylic roller to roll out the clay
  • Resin (optional)
  • Drinking straw
  • Wax paper

*A quick note on polymer clays:

Sculpey is more brittle than fimo when cured. Fimo is stiffer and harder to work with when not cured. I prefer Sculpey, but to add strength and gloss to my pieces I add a coat of resin at the end. If you are skipping the resin…
