UPDATED:  @HeyDay Photo App Review

*URGENT UPDATE*:

For all users of the heyday app... The creators ditched this creation. The owner was just featured in a fortune.com article. He’s just picked up, left behind, leaving NO NOTICE NO RESPONSE on ANY Social Media Accounts, regarding this fact. He’s picked up a new giant idea, and just walked away… All servers containing our FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHYS, NOTEs with THOUSANDS of Memories we took time to Write Save and share so that we could have them FOREVER, to NEVER be FORGOTTEN…. All Gone.

Just gone.

No answers. Tweeted, Instagramed, face booked, and commented everywhere I could:  NO RESPONSE. I even messaged Heyday’s every person tagged in his Instagram account pictures. Website: GONE. We need to get togethe to address this and I have started the process through Apple Support via their Twitter account.
So I DO NOT RECCOMMEND THIS APP! I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANY APP MADE BY THE CREATORS OF THIS APP!

ALSO, in closing, I am trying to reach out to as many Heyday App Users as possible, and gathering names and then continuing to keep trying to reach the x owners for CLARITY ANSWERS AND ASSURITY as to WHAT happens now? Where are our photos? How do I know you won’t use my photos in any dishonest manners? WHO does have access to our photos and memorable moment so?

WHY?

WHY?

WHY ? WHY, were we NOT given the opportunity to write down, re-download, get back, ALL OF OUR MOMENTS AND PHOTOS FIRST, before you (extremely dishonestly) just disappeared? NO NOTICE on your website, NO Posts on your instagram? Your facebook? NOT EVEN A GENERAL EMAIL sent to your ongoing Customers?!?! HOW could you do that? WHAT will we do now?

Where are our Notes? Why would we Not be given some kind of notice?….

Many other apps have done and DO, out of RESPECT for THEIR customers they’ve stored their PHOTO Memories of, for YEARS.   ESPECIALLY when the service that’s provided, INVOLVES FAMILIES photos, and life memories, moments that will never be brought back again, not ever, of real lives, of their unique experiences!…. AND, I am both disgusted, and I am committed to finding ANSWERS

Please leave a comment or go through my Contact Page to leave your name, email address, and maybe your Twitter and Instagram names so that I can message and tag you further, when and, If I figure out what happens next, with our photos and notes contained within the @Heyday app –that is just no longer useable now. Just fell off the planet I guess. Please be patient as I do receive a lot of emails via my blog.

THANK YOU SINCERELY, Jeanine

A quick photo app review for you before the holidays really begin!

For those of you that have been following me for sometime, especially HERE on My Instagram, you know I LOVE a great photo effect and photo storage (Apple iTunes) App!

This specific one I wanted to share right away (without editing or thought) because, it will be thee perfect addition to your iPhone camera for Christmas time!

If you’re travelling around to families houses, from one town to another, you will find this app absolutely perfect for your hectic schedule. I am a pro at that, trust me here…

PHOTO 1

20131216-172941.jpg
From indoors to outdoors, here’s our latest “Saturday Afternoon”…

I have yet to find an app I appreciate more. Now that being said, I do love my other photo effect apps for playing with colour, edits, and effects but, this app is different.

First, its called
“Heyday – Journaling. Reimagined.” created by “Hey, Inc.”

In my personal experience, this app is better than iPhoto, Instagram(<–follow me there;); or any photo storage type app I have purchased through Apple, iTunes AppStore.

An intuitive, organzied, systematic photo storage app. All you do, is take the photo, leave the rest, up to the app…

In the HeyDay the app:
Stores all photos taken by date, time, sequence. Also, labels each with its time frame ie-“Sunday Afternoon” to separate, “Sunday Evening”.

Arranges, and or re-arranges each photo collage or section the app itself creates for you.

Best Features:

A-  Easy date storage for remembering when photo was taken precisely.

B-  With the added option for you to socially share each of these sectioned and timed collages. (Through Facebook and beyond).

C-  While enjoying a look at the gorgeous layouts the Heyday app creates for you, go into each photo, change its position, drag and remove one you dont like, or “add/swap” the images you prefer!

D-  Ok, I do not personally use this feature mainly because we don’t travel very far as we used to, without a vehicle of our own, the Location Services! Turn these on and always be able to share with the children exactly who’s house you were celebrating at for turkey. Skip the kids arguments and turn ON your location services within the app itself.

On top of that, one great shot just a bit too dark, sharp, or not on the images focal point, tap it and readjust its positioning. Chose from excellent photo effect filters for the perfect result; which are already included in the download!

Brings me to the Best Part:

Affordable price, and No hidden “in-app purchases” required to buy the photo effect filters and best qualities. All around the best holiday photo app for the organized, digital, photo taking Mom.

…or wait is that disorganized rushing Mom whom has no time to re-organize photos?

Yep! That’s Me!

I realize that our camera rolls now provide this type of info. However I don’t remembering seeing the photos by time nor with such simple good looking aesthetics either. I’d like to remind you as well for those whom love to share some photos socially once in a while, the camera roll does not offer an already well-crafted collage of your photos in various filters effect options.

So there!

Go get your Heyday and Hey! Enjoy your day!

“Happy Holidays, eh?” :D

UPDATED

In closing, I will be very careful, research more, and probably won’t actually download any “new” photo Journalling apps–thanks to this experience with @Heyday … I do not regret easily, but this one I do. In my downloading and Apple purchase history, I have  downloaded about 1,200 apps in total:  this is the first experience of this kind. Hopefully the last. Even though I have lost money on crappy apps, I’ve let it go a lot faster. I didn’t even bother writing bad reviews! I could not even tell you their names. This one will stick with me for quite some time. It was four years plus of our lives in photos.

Thanks  for the Life Lesson in Technology department Chen. Someday I hope you come back down from your new “Stolen” high —

(“Stolen” is Chen’s newest highly successful gaming app appropriately named after it follows his dropping off the world from his heyday app) to give back to the little people whom supported you through Heyday

Thanks,

Jaynine

Made By Joel

Today, I am excited to share our personal experience with one of our new favorite websites! (Especially helpful when we were locked up indoors during the dramatic city wide Ice Storm Ontario 2013)

Made by Joel

Joel is a world renowned designer of all things children. Fabric, wood, clothing, DIY, decor, toy making, hand-drawn and beyond. (Links on where to purchase his creativity book for here).

20140124-133537.jpg

On his website you will find a dropdown menu for Free Printable Activities. Here is where we found the many of our Printable Toys and activities that kept our hands warm and head in the game over the last few  weeks  months. This deep freeze has been quite impossible to handle. It has just resurfaced its ugly head this past week, again. More temperatures around the -24 mark, with outlandish windchill values of -44 and colder.

20140124-133816.jpg Navigating around Joel’s on line playground is not only user friendly but, it’s fun! As we printed the fold, cut, & colourable paper town pieces throughout the site, I discovered using cardstock paper can make standing each piece up individually easy. I had more fun than the young I’m sure. I also had to add my glittery touch to my great looking lamposts here, with gold glitter glue placed on light!

20140124-134235.jpg How cute does our little Christmas Town look all together, and shining when turning on the Christmas lights we set them out under. We added mixtures of our seriously frugal figure ceramic fixture finds from our local Thrift Store { I mean dirt cheap. I will share tips on Thrift Store Shopping for DIY & craft creators! }

Since our traumatic Ice Storm hit, I have been extra kid creative around the house–& at the house I babysit 2 boys as well. Poor parents there, can barely see their new fridge or out their front looking window LOL ;D

There are so many free printables available on line for children. I have found many for adults as well. What I was searching for this time was a site we could ALL enjoy creating from. That’s when I accidentally happily found MadeByJoel.com.  I took the initiative to save each file I could in our ibooks PDF library for future use. Then, printed each of our choice Paper Cities, People, and Vehicles, on a thicker cardstock paper. Each of the paper playful items we printed stood and were stronger with this choice paper. Made for fun decorating, worked with various coloring utensils, and even added our own special touches like in the pictures below!

There is much design to enjoyed through the talented father and husband Made by Joel for those of you with children, or children at heart, for the young and old, plain or bold. There is something for everyone. I really hope you will take a look around at his art. You’re certain to be inspired if you do!

What are your favorite adult or children FREE Printables websites you chose for coloring or printable activities with the kids, or alone? Share in the comments below!

Welcome, Words, & Winter Woes

The December 2013 Ontario Canada Ice Storm… the mess

CATCH UP:  Welcome Back! Let’s get right into what’s been taking up all of my time…Weather! No, I am not a weather man/person, the whole North American Content seems to be under a sinister snow attack courtesy of Mother Nature herself! 52% of the US as reported here in Canada, is under record breaking snow falls and low temperatures. That’s now. Over the last two months of my hiatus we had (hydro) power in time for Christmas Eve, an 8:15pm New Years Eve countdown (perfect for me!) and got back my laptop!

Now, I can use the amazing “Press This! to post! Be prepared to find simple easy linked posts, sending you straight through to a website that I have found interesting for me, and possibly useful for you all ;D  I will attempt this through WordPress’ Google Chrome Extension. It’s kinda like the PIN IT! is for Pinterest but only for posting on your WordPress Blog.

Why haven’t I used this before? Well, that’s because up until finding the kindest computer man on the planet, I had no hope to ever being able to use my laptop again!  HOORAY! I got our home laptop baby back and up to work just two days ago. Benefits of small town kindness. (If you ever read my blog, many thanks again Ron & family ;) AND, the extension itself is NOT available for mobile device internet browsers, like safari on Apple devices. Outside from the Laptop that was in the shop for four months, we use mobile only, which I actually prefer. So this is a treat being able to have the Laaptop back and I’m going to enjoy it lol.

PICTURES:

ice storm

outside of the damage some of the photos were beautiful. i showed the LO the thickness between the ice & the branches. an obvious difference!

ice storm

looking ahead at the girls as we trudge under the falling trees.

ice storm

this is not even near “tall” when compared to the real tall trees lining our streets. the devastation was worse in other areas…

ice storm

as we turned the corner the next street was like walking in a labyrinth of fallen slick ice trees. each & every tree on this street hung perfectly over the sidewalks. dangerously…

THE ICE STORM:  For now, we in Ontario, Canada have been in recovery from the Ice Storm 2013 that literally fell on our heads and homes this Christmas Season. For a bitter total of 9 days, (plus that for some) 500,000 residents of our closest big city (Toronto), our town, and our surrounding neighborhoods big and small, all had no power. none. absolutely none. meaning no heat, spoiled food, no elevators, city buildings, and very busy emergency vehicle response teams. That was terrifying, besides being in the dark everywhere… the individual struggles alone were/are endless even still.

When it comes to weather-watch, we are all as a town and city, still under much stress or heightened awareness for now, from that devastation. Many of us are still without food replacements, from all we’ve lost in that Ice Storm 2013. (including us, neighbours, & friends we know included!)

Just yesterday at the grocery store normally very quiet and slow on Sunday’s, I watched bunches of shoppers scurrying around, seemingly collecting and collecting all over again. We just last evening again, received more snow storm warnings, freezing rain warnings (that’s the scary one), even blizzard watches in areas, and the coldest Windchill Warnings. OH, my favorite NewsTalk Radio Station just reported “feeling like -42 with the coming windchill, even colder”. It will take 5 minutes before your hands or uncovered skin will be frost bitten. Coldest that I remember in years, arriving today and tomorrow.

Ice storm

As we walk further, it’s like each tree was mis-planted, UPSIDE DOWN–some of these are not perfectly clear because it was a cold night walk.

Ice storm

and as you look across the street at this row of trees, they ALL look like they’ve been planted UPSIDE DOWN…it’s very sad

Ice storm

As I was saying I headed to the grocery store yesterday to grab the necessities because we spent 9 long days plus, trapped indoors in that last ice storm. I wanted to be prepared as much as the next guy. I think we’re still on edge. We are walkers and even during the storm, the sidewalks (understandably so) were the very last things the Town Employees were working on clearing. With as much as 10 cm plus (don’t know the real numbers) of layered ice on the sidewalks and my disability, there was NO WAY I was able to get the kids out and about for any reason at that time. Including food. The Town (& city of Toronto) are all just beginning the clean up. The cost? $75 Million Dollars. As individuals and families touched by this record breaking catastrophic storm, we are all trying to clean up and calculate each of our own personal damage caused as well. For us, we were lucky as far as having heat, power, hydro, however we could not get out to replenish food due to sidewalks.

We all snuggled in together over a long Winters (past) weekend with candles, water, and blankets prepared. OH and a handful of noise makers in case the kids start their back to school week, without school :D Mine had school but some of our family members and surrounding schools did not due to this second snow storm! Some just got back to school today. Happy to report no loss of power yet but, I have to admit it is a worry much on the mind. There is still much more to come tonight and tomorrow.

(.. Ohhh, My aching head…;)

NOW the good news the brighter side, the silver lining; as my regular readers know I always find and share. We only lost power for a total of 2 days, we had much to be grateful for and spent a lot of time praying for the safety and needs of others. Speaking of prayers, unfortunately, even our church closed and missed it’s very first Sunday service ever!

Ice storm

Just after Christmas the street trees looked like glistening tinsel or lined with CHRISTMAS lights

Ice storm

This was not our tree. This was a neighbours tree that actually crashed completely on their vehicle, which luckily wasn’t damaged

Ice storm

a look at our ice covered trees

Ice storm

our backyard ice rink. the trees above our train tracks here were literally crashing and inside every 3 minutes during the Ice Storm 2013, we could hear them falling. Super Loud & when no power: super spooky too

Ice storm 2013

Ice Storm Bundles ;) This is mainly what we did over freezing ‘holidays’ ….

As a sweet family of three girlies, we got much anxiety ridden time to hang together.  iPads in hand, we searched websites for some crafting, DIY’ing and coloring activities to keep us busy. Over the Ice Storm and this past cold and snowy weekend, we found even more! We were able to print many different items to play with after coloring and decorating. I will be sharing them via the Press This Google Extension which I am so excited about! The next post will be a look into this.

Really good to be up and blogging again. Look forward to catching up soon! How was everyones holidays? Did you get stuck indoors due to weather? Does your family have a special traditional activity you preform together over the holidays? Did you go somewhere warm? Skratch that I don’t actually want to know the answer to that question LOL ;D Kidding, Share away folks! Did you know anyone in your family or friends that was here in Ontario Canada during our wretched storm? Were they affected in anyway? did you travel during this storm? plane flight delays across country?

Happy New Year,

Jaynine ;)

P.S. We are still waiting patiently for nice above minus 30 weather so we can get out and do more of this:

Before Ice Storm 2013

One Link Friday?

Seriously, I know it's been a forever while! Truth is, we have all been battling illness since we got over Our **** Summer.
Yes!
Still!
What happened to my Onward and Upward?
I am afraid, I am still asking myself…??

***Even better still, THIS is LAST Friday’s Post lol! ***

Our little family has been facing thee ultimate worst bout of sicknesses over the last two months, that we as an entire family unit have never experienced before; and of which no one can explain….I have just come out of the hospital again, this time only for some oxygen with my new found partner: Pneumonia. I fear however, that Wednesday nights visit is somehow not my last during this … affair. The children are also still sick. LO handling it best, and TEEN handling LO best (for the minimal help she can offer herself).

Anyway, so there’s the reason you guys haven’t heard from us. I am sooo sick. With 2 children completely alone, rest and getting well is very hard to come by. Lately, I have had to my best begging for a rest relief period for (at least) an hour and mainly only, from my one parent/friend/family (only person I know, closely enough) here in the neighbourhood, besides my fantastic neighbors down the way. Don’t like asking them for help a lot because let’s face it, I basically have to live with them lol. Plus, they already hugely stepped up too when had my meningitis!

My mom is also a single handed home owner and full time employed healthy superhero. She has to sail her own boat too. Thankfully, she can usually grab the generally needed stuff when sick like this, an ambulance, 2 kids, coffee, & some hospital masks stuffed in her purse. She’s not handling it well and is seemingly on the verge of seriously cutting me and my children out of her life completely. I mean it! And I don’t blame her one bit! (for this anyway)! I am beyond sick and tired, and eons passed my last nerve.

Enough of my rambling, here’s last weeks…

*** Back to last weeks Link Day Friday POST ***

((*I take no credit for any of the work or the photos posted here. Click this source article and visit the links available by photo there; & give some credit to the creators where it’s due! Thanks Guys I miss you all deeply! ;D))

This first string art pumpkin is my favorite. I am really loving this technique seen in many different DIY settings as of late but, I just don’t seem to have all tools needed (as usual lol)!

However … LO & I (mom) have Sinus Infections (cant hear see smell taste eat grrrrrr!), and TEEN has mystery illness. My teen, now known as “mystery girl“–had her first (mystery illness) with no diagnosis at 6, we haven't stopped calling her that. She always seems to catch the germs no Pediatric Specialist could even decifer the code for. Well, now “mystery girl” has done it again. Obvious results from Doctor yesterday showing signs of infection, duh; of course a slight positive for Mononeucleosis at ER Doctor today; whom is sending her tomorrow to Pediatrician Hospital Doctor, 45 minutes away.

Did I mention how incredibly excited LO & I sick as dogs are to get dragged along during all these snot filled horrible boring hospital trips. Not that I really care however, becuase someone better get to the bottom of this illness! It's getting exhausting especially for TEEN whom just wants to feel better yesterday… ;(

What we did at our house this Season, was buy a large bag of small pumpkins. Due to the illnesses I’ve had to think “inside the box” (“inside the house” that is); finding various creations to share. OK, NOW Get your pumpkins ready becuase I have a lot more links I will be sharing with you over the weekend!

Come back and share Your Link in Comments of your fantastically healthy weekend creations, how-to guides, your own tutorials, a pumpkin DIY you’ve got to try; I dare to share!

Oh yeah, sniff sniff *ouch* here's the inspiration. Photos aren't mine, I don't steal, credit through links ACHOO!

LOVE THE TWINE!

COLOR COLOUR COLOR!

Please, do check out the link that contains 36 other even more creative pumpkin diy/crafts you can do with the children…cuz ya know, you're not all snotty sick n stuff.

_________________________________________

OK, Now its time to talk about ME lol! As promised, I have much new fruitful learnings to share with my fellows here, from the many adventures  throughout our “lovely” Summer experiences! Like I say, “Onward and Upward”

SOME DIY

As you all know I am convinced in some delirious part of my brain, that I can complete a DIY! In fact, I have semi-completed 1 so far. The painting and gluing will be the last steps to the (DIY towel rack) completion. In the meantime, I have also added to the mix a few more pieces of DIY inspiration for our new white walls/blank canvas, in our (rental) apartment we have at our decor disposal now. I myself am almost frightened of what I will do or think of next.

SOME LESSONS

And, that fact, has got me thinking alot more lately…I have always had a fear of completion. I dont know where it stems from. When I was a full blown alcoholic/addict, I had never completed any thing in my life, from start to finish. Not Once. Besides grades 1 through 11. Even my University career has been shortlived or started and not finished; ever. Tried twice already, and I am soon on my third; so I’d better figure this out FAST! TEEN’s own University career is up for discussion as of late and I’m feeling inadequate for advice or inspiration, never having completed my own. Of course, its for one reason or another. It’s never that I’d set out to start something and not finish–it’s just seemed to always turn out that way.

I even remember giving birth to TEEN, saying to my Mother “hey, thats the first thing I have ever done full circle, from start to finish Mom!” The second thing I ever completed once the one thing that saved my life. The 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous (with a Sponsor). The memory of finishing the 12th Step is clear as yesterday. It was 8 years plus ago. We sat on a bench outside our meeting space, under a low-rise condominium. The second we completed the reading portion a splash of fresh fallen rain water fell beside us with a loud noise that made us startle! The water represented for me the baptism of joining my new life. FYI – I also promised a post regarding my addiction experiences. I will get around to finishing it … soon ;)

Told you I learned alot from our experiences this summer. About me, my children, my family, friends, neighbours and beliefs. There’s a few things I am working on inside. I have much more to share but, lets talk swag decor now (lol! swag).

THE GOOD STUFF:

My Photos:

Presenting the first to be completed actually, my Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamp Art

Dollarama | Crinkle-Cut Potato Slicer

Our potatoe slices made with the Dollarama six year old ‘crinkle-cut potato slicer’

I chose this crinkle-cut slicer to create a unique characteristic in our DIY (to be different from the original idea as well); hopingto give a wavy sort of look on the paint.

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamp

OH! Cut potato in opposite directions again for uniqueness in our interpretation

Grabbed LOs small already cut-off black shorts, knowing the next day was to be a hot one here. The black helps boast the bright neons chosen for paint. Age and condition of the shorts only assisted me in being ok with messing up, which is always a great possibility when I set out to do, anything;)

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamped clothing choice

TIP:  Slip cardboard between fabric to prevent sticking, bleeding of paint colour, & preventing ‘bunched up’ paint stamp

YES, I thought of that TIPall on my own ;D

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamper

just a cool shot

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamp - first stamp

aww … our first stamp – nail biting!

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamp - LO

LO is now an experienced fashion designer

LO was so excited to wear her shorts I don’t know how I managed to get her to sleep. Next day we both decided to show off our home DIY ‘fashion designs’ together! I love watching LOs posture just rise three-feet higher as she prances into school, announcing her creation to impressed teachers and classmates. With her developmental delays LO doesn’t have many other children understand or approach her for play. I encourage her creativity to offer her a way to introduce herself and add more verbal communication between her and her fellows (at daycare/”school”).

The sweet reveal images:

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamp - tank top reveal

here she is! my tank top reveal

Unfortunately, LO wouldn’t stay still for a photo of her shorts. They all appear too blurry to post. Now, remember I am no photo genius or no DIY genius! The next shots were fun in the moment try-ons and non-professional.

Crinkle-Cut Potato Stamp - opps

Oppsie! NO I am NOT pregnant, although this photo makes it look like I am from a distance!

Definitely no chance of pregnancy with this blogger…last photo is my favorite. The back of my tank top turned out much better than the front; probably because I did the back last. Next time I will learn the mistakes that way.

completed tank top

completed project #1 ;) We actually got compliments all day about our clothes!

Remember, This is just one of the projects I have started around the house. PLEASE, I welcome the push to see me complete and POST my projects! I’d love to hear your colour recommendations, or different ideas and inspirations you’d like to share with me. Consider me your DIY Ginea Pig:  If I have the tools, I will try it! Leave behind a link to ANY DIY projects you’ve posted completed or started LOL around the house; you know, so I know Im not alone in learning how to FINISH things!

JayNine xo

As I have said in the past, if you like my photos and wish to use them, just ask or drop me a line of the content it’s been featured in, thanks. Remember, these are my family time photos and I expect them to be shared in the same manner.
