Weekly Photo Challenge: Foreshadow | Green to Growth

Summertime leafs, less and less room for writing in my household. The Weekly Photo Challenges offered by the Daily Post here on WordPress, has provided me an outlet for sharing our experience regardless of the time to write, being unavailable for now. This post covers my postaday tag from the challenge and sums up some of the daily summer occurrences within our little family unit.

The foreshadow idea is ‘green pods foreshadow flowers growth’

A Perfectly Poised Pod

A Perfect Pod, this is only one of the many perfectly poised pods we found on our walk.

Since being first introduced to angellicsscalliwags blog on WordPress and her Nature Study posts containing lesson details from her homeschooled children, my LO and I have been infatuated with nature influenced picture taking. We’ve watched a large trees one year change process, and enjoyed searching for the swamp Monster in Spring through seeking signs of growth/life, in our own nature adventures

Green to Growth

Green to Growth this flower shares each step in the growth process, many times over through its bush

We can see clearly something’s coming….

This flower (I don’t remember her name), has each set of its growth processes, apparent daily on its own large joyful bush! One flower type, expressing its lives steps.

These are the remaining photos for now. I wanted to complete this post firstly. I have better quality photos to add this afternoon

I hope you enjoy a look around the process for now. Stop over Moms (parents, caregivers, and homeschoolers alike) at angelicsscalliwags for a lesson in nature. There’s a world of learning going on at Mrs.Claire’s

Growth

Presenting Growth, the final step is in your enjoyment. I will be adding more high quality photos of these flowers later. Enjoy for now!

Thank you kindly for stopping by.

I would like to offer my readers a look into the other bloggers who take these photography challenges above and beyond, just taking pictures (like me). I don’t have the photographer skills they do, and I will share their links as time permits. For now, you can find a section of PingBacks and links left by these talented folks, under the original Weekly Photo Challenge: Foreshadow | in the Comments section. ;)

Pink Pod Parts

Pink pod parts slightly revealed … Notice the dew droplets. It gets even better in next post.

None of these images have been altered or edited in anyway (accept to ‘crop’ for up close detailed enjoyment)

Again no editing….See our other many photo ventures in the categoryPopAGraph“!

Perfectly Poised in Pink

Perfectly poised in pink. You can almost see the flower, holding her head up in confidence.

And, before the last, just a reminder:

I ask before I share anyone’s photos for any reason and I expect you to do the same. These photos are taken by me and cannot be reproduced in any way, without first my written consent! Which I dislike when people write so let me finish with:  Im a nice girl chances are I’d say Yes, just be respectful and Ask Me k, Thanks! ;)

that's it from Green to Growth ...

that’s it, from Green to Growth…but, we all knew this was coming.

My absolute fav!

JayNine xo

PS- I will be back to writing my adventures in parenting shortly. Thank you readers for your patience with me here. These photos are taken of a bush we walk by daily to get LO to ‘school’. It’s a perfect living example of each step in the process of flowers ‘Green to Growth’

A Case of Books

A friendly decor share for all, especially inspired by my chats with AngelicsScalliwags over there!

Claires blog was one of the very first I followed on WordPress. A blogging, homeschooler, and incredible Mother of the “AngelicSscalliwags Crew” full of book lovers. Claire has a love for the “finger to page flipping, paper-made, good ole’ book reading” experience.

Having my own TEEN, whom “Eats A Book-A-Breakfast” I can relate to the costs of housing all these books, books, books! We live in a small apartment ourselves, and the struggle to find or create space for each hardcover paperback, is endless!

The highly unique bookcases come in regular sized dark wenge wood….

20130723-123951.jpg
Or smaller, the MINI Bookcase, size I’d use for the children’s space. The MINI would be a perfect fit in a little nook area or reading spot for kids!

I really favor these one of a kind decor items. A worthy buy as well, as the designers at
Cold And Old actually ‘plant one tree for each item sold’! To me, that’s an added personal touch. As well, a great reminder for you when you look at your new piece of wood decor. A beauty giving you the opportunity to pay back the environment for, in such a special way! I am confident angelicsscalliwags could even turn the items, into a brilliant homeschooling lesson for children ;)

Unique custom made bookcases by, Augusta and Gustav over on Etsy.

Item Description:

The darker colored ‘Wenge wood’ material of the above custom made bookcases contain ‘pins’. The detachable ‘pins’ hold the books resting on small wooden plates. These multi-functioning wooden plates keep the quality of the pages intact and are adjustable. (*purchase details) Placed at the bottom of the book, they allow each book to be moved in arrangement. ‘Pins’ dually act as ‘bookmarks’ being perfect for keeping your page saved and are an appeasing book storage unit on display. Have fun and express your own unique decor style.

The other way to approach these items is to use as your own inspiration for re-creation. I see a frugal, re-create-able, unique, book storage inspiration. There is potential throughout a fabulous (lol at self, ok, a second-hand-looking) DIY project; an opportunity for the entire family to partake! Right!?

AND…* Night Stand my favorite *

20130723-162926.jpg

All designed pieces are handcrafted and created by owners Agusta and Gustav of the Old And Cold one of a kind studios. The Night Stand versions above, contains a slighter depth in shelf, showing its versatility as a functioning piece of minimalist decor. As you can see, each item is hanging on a string material. Strings are made from a waxed cotton and available in options of beige, dark brown, and red tones; also part of your choice custom ordering. *I could use a couple in each room honestly.

Personally, my LO who’s 4+ and I have been working together sanding, prepping, and fixing with tools, a dresser re-finishing project we’ll share once complete. It’s an in-interrupted, quality, bonding and learning experience for us BOTH ;)

Can you have special DIY projects to do with wee-ones help? Do you have a ‘DIY bookcase’ to share? Have you created DIYs with your fam? Are you inspired to do a project like this now?
Share in the Comments or re-blog your story from this post! A chance for you to boast of your successes with DIY… or fails LOL! You know we all love a good laugh, or happy story!

Dear Readers About Claire, at angelicsscalliwags

Especially to, Mom’s, parents, and caregivers alike. Make your play learning and regular days with the kids less stressful and more fun! You don’t want to miss this blog. Mrs.Claire is an incredibly loving, humble, dedicated, and homeschooling Mother. There are simple learning lessons from her teachings, that she goes into great details about sharing with us on her blog at, AngelicsScalliwags here on WordPress. The instructions, challenges, and lessons are much easier to follow (for a “bear of very little brain”–like Pooh Bear and I) than most of the hardcore books-using homeschooling plans I’ve tried! <<–I read them all! I just have a unique set of circumstances with my LO's learning.

Personal Experience:
Since reading Mrs.Claire’s Blog, I now am able to design my own lessons to implement while just “playing” and being, with my own children. My LO is “developmentally delayed”. I tweak a little something here and there, from Claires Homeschooling Lessons, and VOILA! I’m practising homeschooling lessons in play!Who Knew! AngelicsScalliwags expressions are lovely, photos are fantastic, and learning is definitely wholesome at their house. Subscribe, follow, read, today.

Link Day Friday

Link Day Friday
welcomes the following links for the Following described needs:

HIP HOMESCHOOLING MOMS:
Best network of blogger moms out there! Always useful links, tips, activities, advice and more from moms all mover the globe–whom homeschool. NO, I don’t personally homeschool. I utilize their links and posts for different activities. I gear the to my LO learning difficulties and preschool type play learning (if they’re not already about that)!

A MOM WITH A LESSON PLAN:
Another blogger mom, Jill or Jillian, found through the Hip HomeSchool Moms above and found…LETTERS: a focus on ‘a letter a week activities’. I also apply the same ‘geared to preschooler’ rule of mine, to any older age group activities. Example: nstead of using a bunch of questions or words; I will use one letter sound and 2 words that rhyme, for that one week.

TELLING TIME:
The Carrots Are Orange mom blog, with many different learning acitivities. My favorite right now, which we are beginning to learn just this weekend and next week: Telling Time! Utilizing tools such as the book and concentric circle Marnie shares int the Telling Time Post. Subscribe to Marnie at the “Carrots Are Orange” (love the blog title) for updated posts, via email. Learn more about her montessori teaching and activities on her website.

STORYBIRD:
The last link that I have not much time to describe, you MUST check it out, sign up, create account, free, and start exploring the book writing and sharing on. Right now, I don’t remember who’s website I found this one from but, it’s ideal for all types of reader levels! HERE are the results for a search I did, entitled ‘PRESCHOOL

…from what I got at first glance and understanding from my iphone running out the door in rain for children LOL…It’s an opporuntity for readers to create their own stories, share them on line through social media, and the StoryBird.com website. My idea was that I would sit and explore with LO, and see if we could read the stories created by the folks we follow for preschoolers!?

Hope some thing here inspires you this weekend. These are just some of the few of favorites I have in my collection; of which I will share more with you as time permits.

Happy Weekend

Weekends!

Just an update of our “weekend”

Most adults get excited when the weekend comes but, MY ‘weekend’ starts tomorrow, your MONDAY. Once all the insanity of the running around, hop scotch, ball playing, soccer kicking, cooking, dishes, cooking, dishes, messing teenager, Mom rushing around like a chicken without a head, playing four year old games for three full days–comes to a close: MOM gets to relaxAhhhh, I Love my Daughter, I love children, I adore spending quality family time with them both (when I can get the teenager involved at all); BUT, me,

I
LOVE
MONDAYS
….

Yep, hate away. I know no one likes Mondays but, for me, together with Tuesdays, it’s my personal weekend, when the youngest goes off to her lovely school/daycare across the street and Mom sits. And sits. And sits.
For the first time in a WEEK. Literally. As a single mother with a single mother, there’s not a lot of time for Grandmas helping hands. But she helps in so many other more important ways…in the meantime, here’s a look into our ‘weekends!’

So Much for History

20130330-161550.jpg

Another attempt at a homeschooling lesson this one about
History–looks like the Lesson was for Mom!

I learned:
Everyday I want it to be a Lesson day, its not always going to be, a Lesson day.
Every moment of lesson is playtime.
Everyday I think I taught her, I learn “Herstory” … I learn a little more of my-story.

Every idea I have is not going to work perfectly.
I am not in control every minute.
I Learned I like to not be in control every minute: I can let go and learn more that way.
Just because Im not teaching, doesn’t mean shes not learning.
I love watching my daughter play.
I love watching her learn at play.
Every time we play, I learn more about my daughter.
Every time we play, I learn about myself.

And just when I think I know–I learn that I have much to learn.

What an open-minded happy place to be!
Willing to learn, leaves me open to new experiences…with my-self, my children; my life…
How Blessed are we to be free to learn.
How Blessed are we to be learning with God, Everyday.
I ask God that He always make me willing to learn.

Have a

    Happy Easter

all,
JayNine;)
